Wardrobes are the piece people most often assume can't be saved. A big dark wardrobe can dominate a bedroom, and replacing one is expensive and awkward — particularly when the one you already own is solid wood.

They're also the most rewarding to bring back. A wardrobe gets restored before it gets any colour — repaired where it needs it, then finished by hand. Panels can be softened with fabric, original mirrors kept and reframed, and heavy old handles swapped for something lighter.

Inherited a wardrobe that doesn't suit your house but you don't want to part with? That's exactly the kind of project I like.
