Restoring a piece you already own
Send me a photo. The scruffier the better.
Most of what I do isn't selling furniture. It's bringing back furniture people already have — the wardrobe that came from a grandmother, the chest of drawers that's the right shape but the wrong colour, the sideboard nobody wants to part with but nobody likes looking at either.
People often apologise when they send me a photo. There's really no need. I've had pieces arrive scratched, water-marked, missing handles and buried under decades of dark varnish, and most of them were perfectly sound underneath.
Pieces that came back
Same piece, both photos
Sage & Linen Wardrobe
A dark, heavy oak wardrobe given a completely new identity with forest green paint, linen fabric panel doors and natural wood trim.
Sage Green Wall Unit
A dated brown wall unit completely reimagined in a beautiful sage green with gold hardware, now a stylish kitchen dresser.
Teal Bedside Tables
A pair of tired, scratched bedside tables transformed with a rich teal finish and polished silver ring handles.
If it's solid underneath, it can usually come back
Wardrobes, chests of drawers, sideboards and display cabinets, dressing tables, desks, coffee tables, bedside tables. Every piece is repaired first and finished by hand afterwards — the paint is the last step, not the whole job.
There's a whole range of paints and finishes out there, and the top-level ones genuinely give a better result. I'll talk you through what suits your piece and what it's worth spending on. Colour is your decision and I'm happy to take as long as you need over it.
If you haven't got a piece yet, I can find one for you. Tell me the size and the room and I'll go looking — a lot of what I do starts that way rather than with something you already own.
When it's finished I'll get it to you. I deliver by hand where I can, and arrange a courier where I can't. Every piece leaves with a care packet, spare paint included, so if it ever gets knocked you can put it right yourself.
What I can't tell you from here is whether yours is worth doing. That needs a photo.
Ellie has completed the most amazing restoration of our family's dining table, chairs and sideboard. She has totally transformed them! I honestly can't recommend her enough, they are better than I could have imagined and I will always use Ellie for any future projects.
It was lovely working with Ellie to create a stunning piece of furniture for our new room. We wanted specific colours — she gave us lots of options and was super patient whilst we chose. And then painted it beautifully, down to the tiniest detail.
We've had 2 pieces upcycled by Ellie and are really really pleased with the results. Ellie was so helpful with helping find the pieces and did a fantastic job of making them look fab.
Got something in mind? Send me a photo of it and I'll tell you honestly what could be done.
